I was at work when we got a call about an airplane crash. Everyone grabbed backboards and supplies and took off on snow machines towards the airport in record time. Thankfully it was not a big crash. What happened is the plane missed the runway or was blown by wind and landed in the snow drift. That caused an abrupt stop and a bit of a nose dive. The pilot was a little hurt but everyone else was okay, just sore. Part of the problem was our runway lights have been down since Monday, when my boyfriend flew to Anchorage. It is dark until 11am, so of course a pilot can miss a runway. They started working on those lights as soon as the investigators arrived and canceled all flights. Two of our employees would have been on that flight but their original plans were canceled. All passengers had to come to the clinic to be checked out. We had sandwiches and chips for them since they had to wait awhile for all 10 people to be examined. Totally scary though.
