Weather Issues Are Dangerous

Weather Issues Are Dangerous When the weather is bad, planes cannot fly here. It can be fog or high wind, and sometimes it lasts days. This leads to potentially dangerous situations with healthcare. Such as Medevac taking 30 hours to come.

FrigidThe weather here has been the coldest I have ever experienced. The windchill was -50 on Thursday. I ended up getting frostbite on my face when I got a ride on a snow machine. Ouch! It is blistering now. Today it was almost as cold. I hope it will warm up soon!
Beach Time!! There are waves and water, they are just hidden by a bunch of snow/ice hills
There was another plane crash, same airlines. Three people died. Makes me sad and nervous.
In happy news, we got Subway flew in tonight. Hooray for sandwiches! I also got the cheerleading coach job. I do not have any details yet though. I finally made it to the Black Trail last night with my boyfriend. I am not sure how I never made it there before. Maybe because it use to be a trail of just black mesh and was hard to travel. Now there is a boardwalk ATV trail the whole way down. It is awesome! People were picking blackberries and looking for mouse food. We went to try out a new rifle my boyfriend traded for. Far away from berry pickers of course. I kind of like target practice with .22's as strange as that is. Think a bow and arrow would be even more fun though, but I never saw one at Cabella's I liked. Maybe for Christmas. The weather has turned into Fall weather and it is cold! In the past week I went from walking in yoga pants and a hoodie to needing fleece, a hoodie, plus a coat and gloves and hat. The real feel temp in the morning has been in the 20's. It is not so bad when I walk because I warm up, but I got a ride home tonight and I froze because I was not moving. I need to pull my winter clothes out and start wearing my heavier pants soon. I ordered new gloves that work with my ipod, but am still waiting on them. The dog that attacked me shredded my old gloves and I never replaced them. We also have cleats for when it starts to snow. I miss the warm days. I miss the hoodie weather days. I do not want winter to come. I just pray it is a mild winter with no crazy snow hills. Though I plan to snow shoe to work if the road gets bad. Just need to buy my snow shoes. But hopefully snow is still a month away.
I am normally not this cold and affected this badly. I think it was the drastic change in just a week. My body has not gotten use to the weather shift yet. I wear a hat indoors because I am so cold. We've had brutal winds the last couple days. Planes could not fly because of wind. I am still waiting for a cheerleading interview. i hope I get one, I bought a book that will help me and have been researching still. I think Library Night will start next weekend. By the time I talked to the other teacher helping out, it was too close to the end of the week to advertise for tomorrow. I think Saturdays might attract more people than the weeknights did. Just need to decide on what we will do to get people in the library. Maybe story time in the middle and puzzles. Save the crafting for week two. I have started Christmas shopping and crafting. I also found a bunch of stuff on Amazon that I need for our tree. We bought a full size tree last year so I need ornaments and a tree skirt and garland and lights. All of my stuff is in Colorado so need basic stuff to decorate with. I am excited =) We keep Christmas light sup year round but have not had the lights on recently because it was not getting dark until midnight. Now we get more normal sunlight hours, or at least it seems that way since there is no sun because of the rain clouds. I might turn them on tonight just for fun. My weekend has been uneventful except for the Seahawks winning today. My boyfriend is slammed with homework for his two Graduate classes plus lesson planning for his job. He had to write a 10 page paper this weekend plus do a lot of reading and take a test. He went in to work last night around 930pm and there were a lot of teachers there at 10pm on a Saturday. I was at the school to roller skate and saw everyone there. Because of all of this work and the rainy weather, we never made it to the beach. We will try next weekend. I spent the weekend studying for my test as well that I take tomorrow.
I guess the cheerleading job is open because the Principal mentioned it in a meeting Friday. I put my name in so I hope I get an interview! I have been researching cheers just in case. I know one by heart and the words to a bunch, just need to figure out motions. I even know an easy pyramid. The grade level is mostly middle school with maybe one or two high school girls, at least based on what i saw my first year. There were no cheerleaders last year. I hope I hear about an interview tomorrow! By the way, I suck at doing cheerleading kicks now that I am all old. I tried. I failed. LOL. Not trying any jumps though. One of the aides at school had her family raid her house when she was on vacation and took all of her game meat and native foods. We brought her a care package of salmon, goose, and salmon berries from our freezer. During the summer, little kids were out all night causing trouble. Curfew is suppose to be 10pm on weekends and 9pm on school nights. Kids would break windows, run up and down the walkways where people were sleeping inside, throw stuff at the school, scream, climb on oil tankers, etc. Some of these kids are second grade or younger, out at all hours of the night.
Now that school has started, there are still little kids out later then they should be. Maybe not all hours on school nights, but I still see third grade kids and even younger at the playground at 11pm. On weekends, kids are out all night still. Last weekend, some kids came to our porch at 3am and stole our wagon and messed with another teacher's stuff. Thankfully the wagon was found, but it is still a problem that the curfew is not being enforced. The issue with the curfew is there is no village police at night because there is no money to pay them. The Troopers are only here for stuff like murder, assault, not curfew. I was told that the police are starting to get paid again so night time patrols should start again soon. I sure hope so. Today two planes collided mid-air close to Russian Mission. None of the five people survived. It is tragic.
This has kind of made me afraid to fly, which is a bad thing being in a fly in only village. I am sure it will pass soon. But it was my main airline that was involved. |
